Lamont Roach Jr’s lawyer demands victory for his fighter against Gervonta Davis
The New York Athletic Commission continues to gather more evidence
The controversy surrounding the fight between Gervonta Davis and Lamont Roach Jr. is far from over, or at least it seems that way. During the day yesterday, the New York Athletic Commission reported that it was going to analyze the result of the fight
And it was in the ninth round of the fight that Gervonta placed his knee on the canvas and went to his corner to wipe his eyes of a supposed ‘grease’ that caused him burning. Referee Steve Willis did not count this as a knockdown and marked the difference for the judges to give a draw on the scorecards
There is even talk that Willis, the referee of the fight, could be sanctioned, as he had three scenarios to fulfill: he did not count the knockdown, did not score a knockout and did not disqualify ‘Tank’
Lamont Roach Jr wants to be given the win no matter what
Sources report that Lamont Roach’s legal representative sent a formal request to the New York State Athletic Commission, asking that the results of the fight between Roach and Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis on Saturday night be changed
All of this with the intention that Roach will be recognized as the new WBA lightweight champion.
“Lamont Roach is the real winner of the fight against Gervonta Davis at the weekend and should get the win by technical knockout or unanimous decision, after the scores have been adjusted to reflect the knockdown,” was part of the letter sent by Lamont Roach Jr’s lawyer to the New York State Athletic Commission

The judges’ scorecards would have changed dramatically with a convincing victory, as they would have been: 115-112, 114-113 and 114-113.
We will see what the outcome of all this will be, many sources say that whatever happens, it does not seem very likely that they will change the result, as it is something very unusual in boxing. The last time we saw a case of changing the result of a fight was Ryan Garcia vs Devin Haney
On that occasion, Ryan’s victory was taken away for testing positive for ostarine. We will see if the Commission can make such a drastic change, which would be a huge stain on Gervonta Davis’ career
