Jake Paul accepts challenge from world heavyweight champion Daniel Dubois
YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul has seemingly agreed to a call-out from world heavyweight champion Daniel Dubois for a potential fight after sharing private messages on social media.
Paul secured a victory over boxing legend Mike Tyson at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, last weekend. The judges scored the fight 80-72, 79-73, and 79-73 in favor of the 27-year-old YouTuber.
After the fight, Paul expressed his ambitions to climb boxing’s ranks.
“I’ve been in this sport for four years, and I’ve been so active. If people want to see more, give me a couple more months. I’m going to accomplish more,” Paul said. “It can happen in the next 24 months. I believe I can become a world champion within six years of learning how to throw a f***ing jab. It’ll be the greatest sports story ever. The cruiserweight division is pretty open.”
On Tuesday morning, Paul shared a screenshot of a direct message exchange with world heavy weight champ Dubois on X.
In the message, Dubois wrote: “Hi Jake. Good business on the weekend, but how would you feel fighting for the legitimate heavyweight championship of the world? This is Daniel Dubois calling you out. Let’s get it on.”
Paul replied: “Get in line.”
“Man been boxing for 12 years, has over 100 fights between amateur and pro, and fought on my undercard… hahaha,” Paul wrote on X. “But f**k it… I’m going to have Nakisa talk to Frankie Warren and get you in line for the throne. Unlike Artur, at least you have a few thousand fans.”
Dubois is the current heavyweight champion of the International Boxing Federation (IBF), a title he claimed after Oleksandr Usyk vacated the belt in June. In September, Dubois defended the IBF title successfully, defeating fellow British boxer Anthony Joshua at Wembley Stadium.
