Jake Paul reignites feud with Conor McGregor after his win over Mike Tyson: ‘You won’t…’
Jake Paul has sensationally called out Conor McGregor as the pair reignite their feud with The Problem Child saying he will meet the Irishman in the Octagon or the ring, but rejected the condition that they only fight at 170lbs/77kg.
The 27-year-old claimed a unanimous decision victory over Iron Mike Tyson on Friday, November 15 to improve his professional record to 11-1 in front of 70,000 fans at the AT&T Stadium and said he followed through on his promise to give the 58-year-old a “lesson”.
And it seems the rush of triumphing over a former undisputed heavyweight champion has given him some extra confidence after he decided to call out Mexico’s Canelo Alvarez and now turns his attention to McGregor again too.
“Dear Conor,” Paul posted via X.com, formerly Twitter. “I know you told my team you would fight me at 170lbs.
“That’s never happening. But let’s run it in MMA. No weight class. Just like how it used to be done. But you won’t.”
The development comes just hours after Paul said Alvarez needs him to make a big payday happen, despite the Mexican making around $612.2 million throughout his extremely successful career.
Could the fight happen?
If Paul was to agree to 170lbs, it would put him at a significant disadvantage. He came in at 227lbs against Tyson, meaning that for the man standing at 6ft 1in he’d need to drop 50 pounds to get close to that demand.
Whilst for the Irishman, he claims he has managed to bulk up to 189lbs/86kg meaning it’s a far easier transition for him to drop back down towards the direction of his more natural weight class of lightweight.
It’s nothing new for Paul to call out McGregor but nothing ever usually comes of it save for a few exchanges on social media, the MMA master previously dismissing El Gallo as a “little dweeb of a thing”.
