Conor McGregor seemingly confirms Logan Paul fight is on with cryptic social media post
After previously claiming that a fight with WWE wrestler Logan Paul could be staged, UFC star Conor McGregor sparked further speculation with a cryptic post.
MMA star Conor McGregor appeared to confirm a supposed boxing match with WWE star Logan Paul with a cryptic post on social media. The Irishman, who was a two-division UFC champion at the height of his career, has not fought since back-to-back losses back in 2021.
Falling to defeat against Dustin Poirier on two separate ocassions, the 36-year-old has spent nearly four years out of the octagon. His slated return to the UFC against Michael Chandler had been scheduled for the summer but “The Notorious” eventually pulled out of that contest due to a toe injury.
Since then, McGregor has teased fans with the prospect of a $250 million crossover bout against influencer-turned-wrestler Paul – the brother of boxer Jake Paul. It appears that the WWE household name is open to the stepping into the ring with the Dubliner too, with the YouTube sensation having recently posted a poll on Instagram asking his followers who would win in a fight between him and his mooted opponent.
McGregor first sent the rumor mill into overdrive, saying on X: “The rumors of a bout with Topurio are false. I am in preliminary agreements with the Ambani family to face Logan Paul in a boxing exhibition in India. I have agreed. I will then seek my return to the Octagon.”
Now, the controversial fighter has sparked further speculation as he appeared to confirm that the fight will take place as he took to X once more to seemingly reveal further details about the supposed upcoming bout. Quoting a post which included a picture of Paul, he simply commented: “$250,000,000 #ImComing.”
However, it appears that some figures in the combat sports community have doubts over whether a battle will ever be staged between the pair. Among the naysayers is former UFC star Chael Sonnen, who said on his YouTube channnel: “There is a very big former champion of the Mixed Martial Arts.
“He’s a big star, his name is Conor McGregor. He is claiming that he is going to get $250million to go box Logan Paul in India for a billionaire investor who wants to bring attention and tourism to India.
“Oddly, more people have clicked on, engaged with and commented on Conor’s version. Of which not a single word is true. You’ve got to understand, Conor is not boxing [Logan] Paul, there is not a billionaire in India that is looking to bring people over and change tourism.”
