Daniel Dubois welcomes exciting four-fight plan which includes Anthony Joshua vs Tyson Fury winner
Daniel Dubois only wants to fight the best.
The IBF heavyweight champion is set to square off against Joseph Parker on February 22 in the second defence of his red and gold strap.
Providing he gets through that fight unscathed a rematch with Oleksandr Usyk for the undisputed titles is on the cards.
Usyk knocked out Dubois in August after being dropped by a shot that divided fans.
Some claimed the punch, which floored Usyk for several minutes, was legal and should have been counted while others insisted it had strayed low.
The referee determined it was an illegal blow and so Usyk was given four minutes to recover before rebounding to stop Dubois in the ninth round with a stiff jab.
Saudi boxing chief Turki Alalshikh has the sequel near the top of his wishlist for 2025 and has also floated around the possibility of an all-British showdown with Moses Itauma in the not-so-distant future.
Dubois welcomed both fights when he joined Adam Catterall and Gareth A Davies on talkSPORT Fight Night on Sunday evening and also threw his hat in the ring to face the winner of Anthony Joshua vs Tyson Fury as well.
“I think they’re good matchups,” he said of fights with Usyk and Itauma.
“I need to keep on a roll and keep winning but those are good matchups for me.”
A dust-up with the Joshua vs Fury winner hinges on whether the ‘Gypsy King’, who recently hung up his gloves for the umpteenth time, will stay retired.
Asked whether he thinks his Queenberry stablemate’s career is really done and dusted, Dubois replied: “I think he will come back for sure.
“He has always been doing this throughout his whole career, the mind games and everything.
“So I think he will be back. He plays different characters. He will be back for sure…
“Get them in the ring [Joshua and Fury]. I want to see them fight now.
“I bashed up Joshua so he’s got to fight Fury. I want to see what they have got left between those two.
“And then maybe I’ll fight the winner.”
If Joshua vs Fury doesn’t materialise then the plan is for AJ to fight long-time rival Deontay Wilder, who returns to the ring in the spring against journeyman Curtis Harper.
