Jake Paul responds to fight call-out from Floyd Mayweather’s ‘son’
‘The Problem Child’ has been called out by many stars within boxing following his win over former heavyweight world champion Mike Tyson last month
YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul has hit out at boxing star Gervonta Davis after the lightweight world champion called out the social media sensation.
‘The Problem Child’ is fresh off of a unanimous decision victory over former heavyweight world champion Mike Tyson last month. In what was a dull and uninspiring encounter, Paul failed to knock out the 58-year-old out at the AT&T Stadium in Texas. Since the heavyweight dust-up, many in the boxing community have been quick to call out the 27-year-old.
Daniel Dubois – who knocked out Anthony Joshua in September – has offered the YouTuber a shot at his title. “Hi Jake,” he wrote in a message on Instagram. “Good business on the weekend but how would you feel fighting for the legitimate heavyweight championship of the world. This is Daniel Dubois calling you out, let’s get it on.”
Undisputed light-heavyweight world champion Artur Beterbiev was another who was eager to call for a fight with the young American. However, soon after, he changed his tune and rowed back on his call-out of Paul. More recently, Davis – who holds a professional record of 30-0 – revealed whether he would also be willing to meet Paul when he was asked by Curran Bhatia. He said: “Yeah. Tell him this is my callout. Jake Paul what up? What up Jake Paul?”
Taking to social media, Paul responded to Davis’ comments, saying: “Floyd’s little son calling me out?… come on little tank, you know better. I saw you pretend like you didn’t know who Amanda Serrano & Katie Taylor are. Do better & maybe 1 day I give u a platform to shine again after that budget basic press conference you just had.”

Davis, 30, is currently preparing to take on Lamont Roach Jr. in his latest WBA lightweight title defence in March. The American recently stunned the world of boxing after announcing plans to retire before 2026.

“I’m worried about getting my money and getting out of there. I’m just fed up. It’s not even boxing. It’s everything. I have kids, too. I just had a boy. I don’t want to have to keep fighting and getting punched and all that. I’ll probably be building my real estate portfolio, just trying to separate myself from the limelight. I just wanna be able to make money and stay out the way, that’s it. I want to be living without being seen.”
While Davis is interested in a future bout with Paul, it seems highly unlikely that it will ever take place due to ‘Tank’ currently fighting at 135lbs, and Paul weighing 227lbs for his fight with Tyson, nearly 100lbs heavier than Davis. Paul predominantly fights at cruiserweight and would need an open weight to even consider taking the Davis bout.
