‘This is my title shot!’ – Arnold Barboza ready for test against former champion Jose Ramirez
Arnold Barboza Jr. says his bout with Jose Ramirez is his “title shot” before their Riyadh Season Latino Night bout live on DAZN for free.
The light-welterweight star will face the former unified champion on a blockbuster card headlined by Gilberto Ramirez and Chris Billam-Smith.
While plenty of hype is directed towards the top of the fight slate, there’s going to be no shortage of fireworks from the unbeaten Barboza Jr. on the night.
Speaking before Saturday’s fight, the Californian thanked his opponent for taking the fight, and vowed to deliver a crucial performance.

“This is my title shot,” he said.”[That is] how I see it. This fight has been important to me for a long time.
“We’re ready to go out there, do what we’ve got to do [and] make a statement as well.
“A shoutout to Jose Ramirez for taking this fight, he’s a great champion. I look forward to fighting him on Saturday.”

Ramirez was previously unified champion in the division, with the WBC and WBO titles to his name during an imperial stretch between 2018 and 2021.
He suffered his only career loss in May that year to Josh Taylor, in a bout that saw the Scotsman become undisputed in the weight class.
