Gervonta Davis lashes out at Jake Paul and calls him a ‘clown’ after Mike Tyson fight
For ‘Tank’ Davis, the culprit for Iron Mike’s poor performance is the YouTuber-turned-boxer for promoting the fight
Reactions to the disappointing performance in the Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson fight at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, last Friday continue for the few punches that were thrown in what was supposed to be a boxing match, with perhaps only the first two rounds could be rescued.
The fans booed at the end of the fight, social media was filled with reproaches, and several sports figures considered it a pity what they saw, although others, such as boxer Gervonta Davis, chose to point their complaints against Jake Paul for promoting a fight to bring Mike Tyson out of retirement at 58 years old and ‘Tank’ filled ‘The Problem Child’ with insults.
“To the dumb clown who shared the ring with Mike, you’re a stupid for this you did and you couldn’t even do the job… Shit head,” ‘Tank’ Davis wrote in an Instagram story that was picked up by Michael Benson on his X account.
After the reproaches, Gervonta published a second message to pay tribute to Mike Tyson, who despite not being anywhere near his best, for ‘Tank’ the fight against Jake Paul does not erase the legacy of Iron Mike.
“You’ll always be a legend… Whether they like it or not, and there will never be another one like you! And I understand you very well… All this shit doesn’t mean anything.”
For former boxer Andre Ward, Mike Tyson still had that look in his eyes and said he understood people’s disappointment, because everything that was talked about did not correspond to what was seen in the ring, but it was a matter in which at 58 years old his body did not respond to the instructions given by his mind.
“But this is what it is, it’s an event. It’s a 58-year-old legend saying, ‘Let me try this YouTuber and see what he’s got,’ so I appreciate Mike getting in shape. I hope people aren’t too disappointed, but come on. He’s 58 years old. What did they expect?” Ward said during the Netflix broadcast, in which he participated as an analyst.
