Fans blame Jake Paul for cancellation of Canelo vs Crawford: “Boxing is dead”
The cancellation of the fight between Canelo Alvarez and Terence Crawford took the boxing world by surprise, but not the fans, who found Jake Paul guilty of meddling in the negotiations for one of the most eagerly awaited fights in recent years.
The magazine ‘The Ring’ confirmed the cancellation of the fight scheduled for September 12 in Las Vegas, which was anticipated to be the most important on the boxing calendar in 2025. However, the interference of Jake Paul may have been one of the reasons for the cancellation, after journalist Julius Julianis leaked that there was a fix in a post on his X account.
“There is already an agreement for Jake Paul to be Canelo Alvarez’s opponent in May this year, I am informed by a source very close to the operation… The evening will be a co-promotion of CaneloPromotions & MVP & PBC,” Julianis published on X.
Fans slam Jake Paul
After the leak by Julianis, Jake Paul took the opportunity to reveal details about his next fight: “It’s time. Saturday, July 5, New York, New York,” although that information does not coincide with the month that was said to be the fight against Canelo Alvarez
Although there is nothing confirmed about the reason for the cancellation, in The Mirror they highlighted that the fans did not hesitate to find the reason and blame ‘The Problem Child’: “Boxing is dead. Canelo will probably fight Jake Paul,” wrote a fan on X.
Several lamented that Canelo will not fight Crawford for getting into the ring against Jake Paul and there are even those who consider not watching boxing anymore if that is true.
“If Canelo vs Crawford is cancelled to attend a Jake Paul vs Canelo fight, I swear to God I will never watch boxing again,” one fan posted, while another called for action: “If it’s because Jake Paul will fight Canelo, we riot!” and one more said “Please don’t let me read that Canelo vs Jake Paul is actually live.”
