Joe Rogan reveals why he was scared ahead of Mike Tyson vs. Jake Paul fight
Joe Rogan detailed how worried he was before the Mike Tyson vs. Jake Paul fight.
Mike Tyson had people worried heading into his fight with Jake Paul days ago, but not for the right reasons.
The 58-year-old has made a career by delivering violent knockouts inside the boxing ring. Despite his age, not many expected his fight against Jake to go the distance, which is likely why over 100 million people tuned in to watch.
During a recent episode of The JRE Podcast, Joe Rogan announced that he was happy for Mike Tyson. Though the clash didn’t live up to expectations, Tyson was paid handsomely for playing his part in the fight.
“It’s amazing they got paid so much for that,” Rogan said during a sit down with Josh Brolin. “I think [they got paid] $20 million and $40 million, that’s what I heard.”
“I’m happy Mike got the money.”

While the pay was great, many were afraid that something bad could happen to Mike Tyson considering his age. One of those who was scared as the fight approached was Joe Rogan.
Rogan feared for Tyson going up against a much younger opponent.
“I’m happy he didn’t get hurt. That was my fear that it was a real fight and he was going to get hurtβ¦ I love that dude.”
Rogan continued, detailing just how significant Tyson was to him and countless others during his prime.
“He was a larger-than-life figure in my childhood. When I was a kid, when he was the champ.”
“People don’t understand what a champ he was. He wasn’t just the heavyweight champion of the world, he was an executioner.”
“Every fight was just a matter of how long was it going to lastβ¦ I maintain that, in the time where he was champion, like the two or three years where he was at his best, he was the greatest fighter of all time.”
