At 58, Tyson stepped back into the ring last month for his first official fight in nearly two decades. His last match was in 2005 against Kevin McBride, where he retired after five rounds.
Fans had mixed feelings about Tyson’s comeback, hoping to see a glimpse of his old self. While his age seemed to catch up with him after the second round, Tyson still showed the grit and determination that made him a legend.
Many fans believed Tyson ran out of energy by the third round, but Tyson himself said it felt like the fight was over in no time at all.
In the fight, Tyson stopped throwing punches by round three, and everyone thought he was tired. But Tyson says he wasn’t tired at all. Now, fans are wondering why he didn’t keep pushing for the win against Jake Paul.
“Magically. It just happened so quick,” he said to 7News at a Miami pop-up event (via The Mirror). “Eight round were over fast. I wasn’t tired. I wasn’t sweating. I didn’t understand that.”
‘Iron Mike’ is done with fighting and says he won’t wear his gloves again. But he still loves boxing a lot and wants to stay close to the sport in other ways.
“As I said before, the sky is the limit,” he responded when asked about the future. “Anything I want, I’m just happy to be able to do it. I’m very grateful to have the opportunity to be able to do everything that I want to do in this and beyond.”
Mike Tyson talked about maybe stopping his boxing career for good. His wife also said something that made people think he was done fighting, and his son, Amir, shared that his stepmom believes Mike has really retired this time.
Amir explained that the rumors about the fight being rigged aren’t true. He mentioned that his dad just got tired during the fight. Jake Paul was quick on his feet, moving around and dodging punches. It may have looked like Tyson pulled back his punches, but really, Jake was just constantly moving, unlike hitting something that doesn’t move.

After Tyson’s match with Jake Paul, he was asked if he’d want a rematch. But instead of choosing Jake, Tyson shocked everyone by saying he’d be up for fighting Jake’s older brother, Logan Paul. Logan agreed to the challenge, but it seems the fight won’t happen. Tyson has made it clear that he wants to stay retired and is not looking to fight again.
