How Bold and the Beautiful Messed Up Poppy’s Character
Poppy has become public enemy number one on The Bold and the Beautiful. The revelation about her past with Finn was shocking, but it’s caused many fans to turn against her. Although characters can always be redeemed, Poppy might have no hope.
Betraying Her Family
When Poppy (Romy Park) debuted on B&B, she sparked intrigue. She was written as a flawed single mother trying to do right by her daughter, Luna (Lisa Yamada). Poppy had a reputation as a wild child, always getting into trouble, which angered her sister, Li (Naomi Matsuda).
At first, fans were supportive of Poppy and believed Li should give her sister a second chance. However, once Luna’s paternity storyline began, the fan support shifted. Poppy’s evasiveness and lies about the man’s identity painted her in a negative light. But now it’s one step closer to uncovering the truth.
Li suspected her ex-husband, Jack (Ted King) was Luna’s dad. However, a DNA test showed he wasn’t the father. The results lead to Li and Poppy taking steps to mend their strained relationship. During their heartfelt conversation, Poppy declared she’d never betray Li by sleeping with Jack. While Poppy didn’t sleep with Jack, she did betray Li by sleeping with her son.
Last week, B&B dropped a bombshell when Poppy and Finn (Tanner Novlan) revealed their past affair. Although Poppy and Finn aren’t blood-related, the fact she slept with her then-college-age nephew is still disturbing. To make matters worse, there’s a possibility he might be Luna’s father.
Miss Nozawa’s Downfall
Poppy has shown she’s the type of person who doesn’t take responsibility for her actions. What she doesn’t know is her behavior means consequences for herself and others. When the truth about Luna’s paternity is finally revealed, it’s going to destroy many lives.
Finn and Steffy’s (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) marriage will be tested, resulting in more fan backlash for Poppy. Finn’s relationship with his mother, Li will also be impacted if Finn defends his aunt.
But the biggest loser in this storyline is Poppy. She had already lost her daughter Luna, who was arrested for murder. Luna claimed her bad childhood and lack of a father figure led to her committing the crimes. When Luna learns that Finn is her dad, it’ll drive a bigger wedge between her and Poppy.
As for Poppy and Li, the sisters will again be estranged after this shocking revelation. Li will be furious at Poppy’s betrayal and order her to stay away from her family.
Poppy can apologize and defend her actions, but what she did is unforgivable. Although she’ll try to make it up to everyone, the damage is done. There’s no way she can come back from the latest betrayal.
